Latest Updates from Our Project:

Return from the Holidays and COVID - and another project you might be interested in!
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jan 05, 2021 at 12:24:50 AM

Hi all,

In addition to the holidays and various family obligations and such, we've also been down two of our layout people (our main Aegis person and their backup person) due to COVID-related issues that have sidelined them unexpectedly. In both cases, things seem to be resolved now in a positive direction and we're resuming work on the compilation versions of all three books. We've got a lot of work done already and it's been frustrating having delays, but that's life in the world of a global pandemic!

Fantasy Grounds:

We are happy to report that our Fantasy Grounds side is moving again as well. All three versions of the second adventure have been at SmiteWorks for a bit and we're just waiting for them to cycle through the system. We also are rolling again on adventure #3 for Fantasy Grounds, and hopefully we'll be able to send out links for all three versions of adventures 2 and 3 to all FG backers.

Addresses:

As we get close to finalizing the books, this is also a good time to remind everyone who might have moved or be moving soon that you can change your address at any time in Backerkit. When the print books are ready to go, we'll no doubt send out one final reminder before we lock in addresses, but if you already know your information has changed or is about to, by all means go into your Backerkit profile and make sure it's up to date!

Related 5E Projects - Mythos Monsters and Legendary Loot!

For D&D 5E fans, we have two other projects that might be of great interest to you to enhance your Aegis of Empires campaign with even more magic items and monsters:

  • We recently began a new Patreon project called Legendary Loot, featuring brand-new 5E content every single day. We have weekly Sunday Spells and Monday Monsters features, and every other day brings you Everyday Magic, with new weapons, armor, wands, staves, potions, rings, wondrous items, and more. Plus, patrons get our full-color monthly compilation PDF (also available in print), The Dragon's Hoard, combining all the new material from the previous month, with magic item cards coming soon, discounts on upcoming projects and Kickstarters, and more! Pledges start at just $3 a month, and we've already got 50 magic items on the site, nearly a dozen new monsters, and much more. https://www.patreon.com/LegendaryLoot
  • This week, we are launching our first "Quickstarter" - a short two-week crowdfunding campaign to produce Mythos Monsters, a 72-page softcover bestiary with over 40 eldritch abominations drawn from the tales of Lovecraft, Derleth, and those who followed in their legacy, from minor minions like deep ones and flame vampires to mi-go, nightgaunts, gugs, shantaks, and vast and terrible great gold ones! Fans of Aegis will find some familiar faces here, of course, but plenty of new monsters as well. Best of all, the book is done. Not almost done, all the way done, laid out, and ready to release. We are seeing whether we have enough interest to warrant a full-scale print run or print-on-demand, but in any case the PDFs will go out immediately once the project closes around January 20th. Print books will go out as soon as we confirm addresses and pledges for POD, or as soon as we receive the stock if we do a print run. We encourage you to check it out at the link below! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/legendarygames/mythos-monsters-40-lovecraftian-horrors-for-dnd-5e

Knight Fall has Come! Plus Art and Map Folio for #5!
about 4 years ago – Thu, Dec 03, 2020 at 09:55:05 PM

The final adventure is here at last! I've uploaded all three versions of Knight Fall in Old Curgantium to Backerkit, along with the Art and Map Folio for the final adventure. You should be able to download them now, so shoot me a note if you're not seeing them appear in your downloads!

We've also uploaded the delayed Art and Map Folio for adventure #5, so that should be up and ready for you as well!

Next up will be finalizing the Aegis of Empires Design Journal, which is pretty much done. We just set aside doing the final spit and polish on it so we could focus on getting the adventures done. That's the main attraction here! We'll be doing a little bit of reorganization of some elements when we go to the compilation version of the book just to make sure things flow smoothly and easily. We look forward to getting it on the way for you as soon as we can, but we are delighted to have all six adventures (this final one was almost as big as #5, in the 140s for the two Pathfinder versions, over 160 pages for 5E)!

Thanks to each and every one of you for your support, and happy reading and happy gaming. We invite each of you to sign up for our Discord Channel, where people are already swapping stories and ideas for their Aegis of Empires campaign and telling tales of their heroes' adventures! The Discord is free, but we also would love to invite you to check out our two Patreon projects:

  • For 5E fans, Legendary Loot has awesome new content every single day, with magic items 5 days a week plus weekly monster and spell features, our monthly Dragon's Hoard magazine and ready-to-use magic item cards, plus discounts on LG products, free stuff every month, direct connections with the dev team, polls to help decide which kinds of things to show off, and more!
  • For Pathfinder fans of either edition (and Starfinder too), the Legendary Games Patreon offers product discounts, free products each month, patron previews of new stuff before anyone sees it, and personal connections with the design team, and a big focus on our ongoing Corefinder project to create a streamlined, refined, and enhanced complete revision of the 1st Edition Pathfinder RPG, including priority playtest and review!

Preview Pages for Greg's Design Journal - SPOILER ALERT!!
about 4 years ago – Tue, Nov 24, 2020 at 12:24:01 AM

Hi all,

Thanksgiving approaches and we are aiming to get AE6 out to you this week if we can, but meanwhile I wanted to share with you screenshots from Greg's Design Journal! You'll find all of Greg's exhaustive background notes for authors, musings on the metaplot, and samples of evolving artwork throughout the project or even a few discarded pieces that didn't quite make it into the final version.

Hope you enjoy it and looking forward to getting this to you soon.

PS - If you're a player, look away, spoilers abound!

Plus a few early sketches that inspired our artists!

Fantasy Grounds files are in for Aegis #2 (all three versions)
about 4 years ago – Sat, Nov 21, 2020 at 10:41:46 AM

Hi all,

While we wait for the final versions for Knight Fall in Old Curgantium and the Aegis of Empires Design Journal to come through from layout, we had a couple of quick announcements for you:

1.  The Fantasy Grounds files are in for all three versions of The Ebon Soul. Once they get processed into the system, we'll set up to get them sent out to you!

2.  Our Fantasy Grounds person has had some issues come up and has to take about a month break from working on the project, so there'll be a delay in getting the remaining adventures finalized. 2020 has been a year full of stress for everyone, and we fully support work-life balance and the need to take care of the important stuff first, so we look forward to them coming back afterwards and blazing through the remainder of the adventure saga on their return.

3.  Today the 5th adventure in the saga, Race for Shataakh-Uulm, goes live to the general public! By all means help share the love and help other folks find this fantastic adventure story!

4.  If you haven't already, feel free to join our Legendary Games Discord Channel, where there are subchannels for Aegis of Empires as well as other channels for LG general information and announcements, 5E, Pathfinder 1st and 2nd Ed, and our new Corefinder project, as well as fun talk with other fans from around the world!

Design Journal off to layout, and Adventure #6 almost ready!
about 4 years ago – Tue, Nov 17, 2020 at 01:32:40 AM

Hi all,

1.  The Aegis of Empires Design Journal has just gone off to layout and will be starting layout shortly. You'll get Greg's complete (and insanely detailed) freelancer guide and outline, plus bonus background material, lots of work-in-progress artwork and a few abandoned concepts we tried out. Get a great behind-the-scenes look at everything that went into creating this amazing adventure saga!

2.  The final map corrections came back today for Knight Fall in Old Curgantium, so with those in hand we should be ready to start sending out all three versions of the final adventure in the saga very soon. I already reviewed the full layout galleys last week and sent back text corrections, so those should be in hand. We are excited to get the finale adventure in your hands soon!

3.  We also just got back the gridless maps for adventure #5, so we'll be able to finalize the Art and Map Folio for that adventure and get it up and out for you shortly!

4.  If anyone has not yet downloaded the Aegis of Empires GM's Guide, you can get it now in your Backerkit downloads or grab a free copy at DrivethruRPG by clicking the link above. It's got suggestions for how to fill in the between-adventures areas by integrating them with the bonus adventures you received from Legendary Games, or for Frog God fans how to incorporate their adventure line into Aegis of Empires!

We're also starting setup for the compilation version and aim to get the PDF version up and out to everyone by Christmas. Getting our print version set up will not take long, though printing and shipping takes longer than it used to in the age of COVID, but your print books will be on the way as soon as we can swing it!
